Professional Biography

Kathleen M. Robbins, Director, Speak Sure, has trained business executives, professional performers and beginners in the art and craft of skillful presentation—and she looks forward to working with you! Kathleen’s extensive background in acting and directing for the theatre, for which she earned her Ph.D., makes her a master of presentation skills. A presenter herself, she has spoken before the Women in Theatre Conference at Hofstra University, Central Indiana American Society for Training and Development and Indiana Association of Business Communicators in Indianapolis, as well as made numerous appearances before the national conventions of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education and the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. She has also been a consultant in presentation skills for the American Society for Training and Development.

Indianapolis Theater FestivalIn addition, Kathleen is the Founder of IndyFringe: The Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival and a member of The Directors Company of The Dramatic Writing Program at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She has been on the faculty of Rutgers, Adelphi, Columbia, Butler and DePauw Universities as well as Dartmouth College. Kathleen has performed or directed at Riverside Shakespeare, the McCarter Theatre and City Stage Company, the IUPUI/IRT Bonderman Playwriting Event, and she has guest hosted WFYI’s "The Art of the Matter." Her articles are published in The Lamplighter, Theatre Journal, Theatre Crafts, Journal of the Southwest Theatre Association, and The Dictionary of American National Biography. In 1990 she was the recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Kathleen has a B.A. from DePauw University and both an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Indiana University.
